BAMBOO
SAUCER Starring Dan Duryea.
Directed by Frank Telford.
When the U-Foe craze first hit in
the 1950's, this colorful flying saucer epic was released
to capitalize upon the sensational headlines and books.
The plot of BAMBOO SAUCER has an alien
spaceship crashlanding on Earth. The twist? It lands not
in America, but behind the Communist walls of Red China!
Can the Americans covertly land an elite fighting force
behind enemy lines and rescue the UFO before the Chinese
discovery it?
With great special effects by John
Fulton, who also co-wrote the script, this Cold War thriller
plays a lot like ICE STATION ZEBRA but with alien saucers
substituted for nuclear submarines. With color photography
and military action, BAMBOO SAUCER is a
rarity of "lost" SF cinema from the Eisenhower
era.
CRITICAL FEEDBACK
“I found myself enjoying this one
much more than I had anticipated. One of the reasons for
this is that it manages to avoid certain cynical expectations...
has an unexpectedly fun ending." -- FANTASTIC
MOVIE MUSINGS & RAMBLINGS
“A nice little cold war science fiction... an honest attempt
at believable science fiction.” -- dcorr123, IMBD
